Justin Jansen talk on YouTube

Jansen gave a talk entitled The ornithology of the Baudin expedition (1800–1804) in March 2018.

Following the enthusiastic response to the video of Dr Nigel Collar’s talk posted by BOC on YouTube, we have now posted a second video of a talk presented by Justin Jansen on The Ornithology of the Baudin expedition (18001804) to Australia and Timor in March. See the 2018 past meetings page for a summary of the talk and view the video of the talk at YouTube.

The Baudin expedition to Australia and Timor of 1800–04 has largely been overlooked by the ornithological community.

The expedition has been largely overlooked by the ornithological community and only small parts of the collection have been researched and publicised. In the talk, Justin sought to provide a detailed and comprehensive catalogue of the expedition’s ornithological exploits. He hopes that by bringing together what is known about the collection and its dispersal, he can stimulate further research and a search for the pieces that are still missing.

By bringing together what is known about the collection and its dispersal, it will hopefully take research a step further and stimulate the search for the pieces that are still missing.
